Garudostav

Garuda, the vehicle of Shri Vishnu, at Shri Kshetra Nira-Narasinghpur

Sardar Raghunathrao Vinchurkar created the custom of celebrating this new festival every year on the fourteenth day of Vaikuntha. For this, they had a magnificent idol of Garuda, the vehicle of Shri Vishnu, made by the craftsmen of Kampli in South India and dedicated it to Shri Narasimha. This idol is an attractive treasure of this temple. This idol, which is very beautiful and graceful, makes one pay homage to the artist's art as well as to himself.

मंगलम् भगवान विष्णु ।मंगलम् गरुडध्वज। मंगलम् पुंडरीकाक्ष। मंगला यतनम् हरी: ।

The procession of Garuda, carrying the feet of Lord Shiva on the head of this idol, leaves the village on Vaikuntha Chaturdashi. This festival started in 1803.

“।ॐ पक्षी राजाय विद्महे सुवर्ण पक्षाय धीमही तन्नो गरुड: प्रचोदयात.।“

There are five places of Garuda in Shrikshetra Nira-Narasinghpur.
They are as follows-
1. Garuda in Prahlad Temple.
2. Garuda in Dashavatara.
3. Garuda offered by Vinchurkar.
4. Garuda in Dakshin Ovari.
5. Garuda in the back wall of Shamraja.
